Behind The Brushstrokes: The Making Of Our Alani & Kaelia Print
Step inside the creative process with Hannah Buckle & Freda Dub, our print designers and artists behind our KIVARI prints. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes conversation, Hannah shares the journey from idea to print, and how she brought this story to life in four key silhouettes.
What was the inspiration behind these prints?
These prints are inspired by the simplicity of classic coastal design and the natural beauty of the Australian Daintree Forest. A subtle vintage influence runs throughout, with palm trees serving as a visual thread that connects the two artworks together.
How did you create this print?
We wanted to create two artworks that spoke to one another — one linear, the other painted — both connected through the motif of palm trees. The concept embraces simplicity and restraint, using a minimal palette of four colours to explore balance and texture.
What style is your favourite?
The Alani story includes two mini dresses, while the Kaelia print is available in both a playsuit and a maxi dress. The Alani print also features a coordinating scarf — a fun accessory to style through the summer season. The maxi dress has been a personal favourite for both myself and Freda; it’s versatile, showcases the artwork beautifully, and can be effortlessly dressed up or down.
Favourite part about creating this print?
There was a palm print (Solana and Saguero were the names of these prints) from about two years ago that was very successful — done in green and “tree” tones, and was very much loved by customers. Revisiting that and reinterpreting it in a new fresh design was really fun!
