Step inside the creative process with Hannah Buckle, our print designer and the artist behind our Cassia print. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes conversation, Hannah shares the journey from idea to print, and how she brought this story to life in two key silhouettes.
What was the inspiration behind the print?
The Cassia Print was inspired by the birds of paradise flower. We wanted to go into a new direction with this print and focus on a single strong motif whilst still incorporating lots of colour!
Can you talk us through each silhouette?
We wanted to bring the design to life through two distinct silhouettes — a maxi and a mini. The Cassia Maxi Dress features a halter neckline and a fitted, boned bodice that offers gentle structure before flowing into a fluid, full-length skirt. The Cassia Mini Dress is also a relaxed fit, with a timeless square neckline and delicate thin straps that tie up. In both styles, we ensure the print is thoughtfully placed through the centre.
What was the decision- making process like for the colours and composition within the print?
With Cassia being such a statement design, we wanted to incorporate a lot of colour where we could. Both of these silhouettes feature a blue ombre colourway which we felt blended beautifully with the orange and green on the birds of paradise design.
Which is your favourite silhouette?
My personal favourite is the Cassia Maxi Dress. It is perfect as we enter the event season and is a dress that would make you stand out in any room!
